At Google I/O alongside new features for Augmented Reality, Google has also announced a new tool, which allows anyone to create their own Virtual Reality tour which can be viewed by anyone in a Google Cardboard headset.

The tool, called Tour Creator, lets you use either your own 360-degree photos or imported images from Street View to create a virtual tour of anywhere complete with options to include overlays full of important information or 2D images that show a closer look at a point of interest. Google says ‘The tool is designed to let you produce professional-level VR content without a steep learning curve’.

The Tour Creator tool is part of Google’s Poly 3D object library. Anyone from school teachers to restaurateurs or real estate agents can create their own VR tour simply by using the Tour Creator tool, which is free and open for anyone to use. The tool lets you publish to Poly, Google’s 3D object library, and then supply’s you with a link. From there it’s simple to view it either in a browser, or in Google Cardbaord – Schools or Restaurants can even embed a virtual tour right on their website.
