LG to include five cameras on the V40

With the LG G7 now firmly released, the attention of the smart phone community is turning to the upcoming V-Series with the LG V40 expected to launch later this year. According to a new rumour LG is planning to include five cameras on the phone.

In an article from Android Police, a ‘source familiar with the company’s plans’ has advised that the LG V40 will indeed have five cameras – two on the front and three on the rear.

The source has advised that at least one of the two front-facing cameras – possibly both – will be used for face unlock, while the three on the rear will consist of ‘a standard wide lens, LG’s signature ultrawide lens, and a third sensor for an as-yet undetermined purpose’. The third camera could be behind a zoom lens, be a monochrome sensor, or as Android Police suggest, be used for depth of field for live Bokeh effects.

Moving to the screen, the V40 will also have a notched display like the G7, though there should be an option to ‘turn it off’ much like the G7.

The LG V40 will be powered by 2018’s top of the line chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and will include their famed Quad DAC. Like the G7, the V40 will also have a dedicated Google Assistant button and the fingerprint sensor will remain on the rear.

LG announced their V30 in late August last year, but rumours suggest that LG will be announcing the V-series later this year with the previous reports tipping November for the launch.
