The Oppo R series continues to impress with this time the R17 leaking on the Oppo China store with a massive 6.4″ display, and though the notch isn’t unexpected the in-display fingerprint scanner certainly is.

The phone has leaked in two colours: Streamer Blue and Neon Purple and it looks stunning in both metallic transitional shades. The phone will be mid-range in terms of some specs which includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC, but with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage it will certainly perform well.

The 6.4″ Full HD+ resolution display will be 19:9 aspect ratio with a claimed 91.5% screen-to-body ratio which will be covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The display will also have an under-display fingerprint sensor which will unlock in 0.41 seconds.

The phone will include a high-end 25MP front-facing camera with included AI assistance. There will be a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 16MP sensor paired with another sensor though it’s not clear what that second sensor will be.

The Oppo R17 will come with a 3,500mAh battery that will be charged using OPPO’s signature VOOC Charging tech which promises up to 2 hours of battery for phone calls from just 5 minutes of charging.

As usual OPPO will deliver the R17 with ColorOS 5.2 which is based on Android 8.1 (Oreo).

No date for the announcement is set, but the shop page says the phone will be available for order from August 18, so expect the announcement in the next couple of days.
