It’s been a while since we saw new Wear OS watches from Michael Kors, but they’ve now launched their Runway models with a number of new improvements.

The Runway brand isn’t new for Michael Kors, but it’s the first time it’s been a smartwatch and running Wear OS. The switch to smartwatch isn’t the only new thing about them with the addition of heart rate monitoring, NFC for mobile payments including Google Pay, GPS for tracking your outdoor activities and it’s also now ‘swimproof’ with the case supporting up to 3 ATM depth.

The case is 41mm in diameter and houses a 1.19″ 390×390 resolution display, it’s powered by the by now standard for Wear OS watches which means a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 4GB of storage and 512MB RAM. Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy (LE) is on-board for connectivity – No LTE – and a 300mAh battery will apparently keep you going all day.

There’s a range of different colour combinations to choose from for the case, as well as a range of straps which are interchangeable with an 18mm Lug Width. The case comes in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and two lovely looking two-tone designs with matching bands in metal link and leather.

Pricing starts at USD$295 for a basic design and ranging up depending on what design and strap you want. Some models are in-stock and ready to ship in the US, while some are held back until September and October. No word from Michael Kors Australia on availability here, but we’ll be checking in today.

The more and more these watches are announced the less i am convinced the pixel watch will be all that interesting. Surely if we were in for a massive change google would have tried to convince partners to hold off. The only thing these watches seem to lack is the new chipset.

Sadly decent battery life seems to be a fairly common one too.
