After launching on Android more than four years ago, it seems like the digital services team at Channel 10 has finally caved and added Chromecast support to their TenPlay Android app.

The recent purchase of Channel 10 by CBS in the US has obviously had a good effect on the digital services team with all US Free-to-Air and Cable stations including Chromecast and Android TV options. The TenPlay app was updated for Android TV in November last year but the missing Chromecast support is now here.

The update to include Chromecast is available now in Google Play, with the update also spruiking that improvements to the app will be more frequent.

What’s New
Great news, we’ve given tenplay’s Android app the overhaul you asked for! The update includes some of your most requested features, including the ability to Chromecast. From here you can look forward to more frequent improvements, so you can watch the shows you love your way, anytime, anywhere.

At this stage it appears that only the TenPlay Android app has been updated with Chromecast support, while the iOS app has no mention of it on iTunes.

The TenPlay app is the last of the free-to-air TV apps in Australia to add Chromecast support, with the ABC iView, SBS On Demand, 7 Plus and Nine Jumpin app all including Chromecast support some time ago.

If you’ve been waiting for this, then head over to Google Play and grab it now.

That’s great and all but have they added the ability to actually login to the AndroidTV version yet?

Sadly it doesn’t work for me on my S9. I see the icon when the ad is playing but it is greyed out, and once the show is playing there is no icon. Fail.

Mic111, same thing happened to me, try and first connect to your chromecast with the google home app and then launch the tenplay app. When I did that I was able to chromecast from tenplay.

The same solution worked for me with the SBS World Cup app when that was being flaky with Chromecast.
