Less than a year after announcing their first Wear OS smartwatch, Danish fashion brand Skagen has unveiled their second generation with a number of hardware feature improvements.

The new generation of Skagen Falster includes three key features which many consider missing from the original smartwatch with the Skagen 2 now including untethered GPS, a heart-rate monitor and NFC for Google Pay.

Skagen has maintained the great, stylish look of the original Falster smartwatch, while adding in additional features including making the 40mm case ‘swimproof’, an improvement over the IP67 rating of the original – with swim tracking features now built-in as well. The case will be available in matte black, silver, rose gold, matte silver and matte gray with a variety of matching bands. The Falster 2 also includes two programmable buttons, allowing for customisation and fast access to your favourite Wear OS apps.

The internals are based on Qualcomms Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform – a disappointment given the expected imminent announcement of a next generation of Snapdragon Wear processor. There’s no word on what other specs are included, though it’s likely it will have 4GB of on-board storage and 512MB-768MB of RAM.

The original Skagen Falster smartwatch did eventually arrive in Australia a month after the announcement, so it’s likely we’ll see the Falster 2 down under as well. No Australian pricing has been announced at this stage, but the watch will be priced from $275 USD/£269 GBP/2495 DKK when it launches next month.
