Sony has a Playstation Classic console launching in December with 20 pre-loaded games for $149.95

We’re normally about Android, but we’re totally geeks for some classic gaming and while it’s nice to play with emulators a tangible throwback console is awesome. This is why the announcement of a Sony Playstation Classic Console – similar to the run of Nintendo consoles that have been launching has us tickled pink.

The console will be launching on December 3rd for $149.95 as shown on the Sony Australia launch page. It’s 45% smaller than 1994’s PlayStation but retains the same design of the original console, with the same logo, button layout and packaging.

The console will come with a HDMI cable to connect to your TV, a virtual memory card and two classic PS1 controllers allowing for local multiplayer. It does look like you’ll have to supply your own power supply

There will be 20 games ‘with some of the best games from the original PlayStation’ including Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Wild Arms, Tekken 3, Ridge Racer pre-installed on the console – but unfortunately Sony hasn’t given us a complete list of games as yet.

There’s no word on where you’ll be able to buy these, but it’s a good bet you’ll be finding them at retailers who stock Sony consoles now. If you want to know more you can sign up to the Sony mailing list on the site.
