Do you remember where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Do you remember long days and nights searching for clues and flying between foreign cities? Can you remember the flags, currency and capital cities for the nations of the world?

If you answered yes to any of that, you’re probably as excited as we are that Google has teamed up with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, makers of the Netflix Carmen Sandiego series, to bring the spirit of the original game into Google Earth.

I’ve played through the first gumshoe mission, and it’s just as much fun as it was all those years ago.

While the game is reminiscent of the Carmen Sandiego of old with some retro-style graphics, it’s been jazzed up with satellite imagery and flights using Google Earth’s view of the world, which really adds to the adventure.

We’re sure that this is a marketing tie-in for the Netflix series, and that’s ok – I loved playing Carmen Sandiego. Unfortunately at this stage all we’ve been given is a single mission however they have hinted that this is just the first installment – hopefully we get more.

If you want to give it a go, load up Google Earth on the web, Android or iOS and give it a go.
