The leakers have been busy overnight and one who has already provided us with quite a few details on the Pixel 4, @OnLeaks, has revealed more details on the Pixel 4 sizing.

Each year the Google Pixel phone has increased in size (as have most phones) as we become heavier and heavier media consumers and demand for bigger, more immersive displays. This year, according to @OnLeaks the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be bigger in all dimensions.

The sizes of the upcoming phones and their comparison to last year’s Pixel 3 can be seen below:

  • Pixel 4: 147.0 x 68.9 x 8.2 mm
  • Pixel 3: 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9 mm
  • Pixel 4 XL: 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2 mm
  • Pixel 3 XL: 158 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm

As you can see the dimensions are only slightly bigger than last year and apparently the thicknesses are actually 9.3 mm with Google including a camera bump this year on their flagship phone. Each year you add a millimetre or three on and within a few years you have a Galaxy Note competitor.

Of course with a bigger phone you expect bigger displays and @OnLeaks gives a very wide margin for error with display size. He suggests that the Pixel 4 will have a display between 5.6 and 5.8-inches while the Pixel 4 XL will have a display between 6.2 and 6.4-inches. The Pixel 4 is a big increase in size over last year suggesting that they will be going with a full screen display and a notch of some sort instead of the circa-2016 bezels.

All of this hardly groundbreaking news — what everyone is waiting to see if what Google do with their notch. The phones will be bigger, most likely with bigger displays and add that to the rumoured multi-lens camera systems on the Pixel and it will be interesting to see what Google do with the Pixel 4 this year. Hopefully they won’t be including anything as ugly as last year’s notch.
