One of the last steps in a tech product’s journey from concept to shelves is clearance by the US Federal Communications Commission (or FCC). Products containing any form of wireless communication must be certified. Fortunately for us, the FCC typically makes these filings public.

This time around, FCC filings revealed exactly what the upcoming Galaxy Watch Active 2 will look like. The filings include diagrams of the rear of the case, and actual photos of the front.

Samsung’s filing for the Galaxy Watch Active 2 shows how to view the device settings. This occurs in most filings, to demonstrate how to find electronic compliance labels.

Typically, this is done with diagrams, however in this case, Samsung  included actual device photos:

The other details from the filings are:

  • The Active 2 carries the model number SM-R830.
  • It will likely be the successor to the Galaxy Watch Active released earlier this year (SM-R500)
  • It will come in two case styles – aluminium (or AL in the diagrams below) and stainless steel (SUS).

From other rumours, we understands the Active 2 will come in silver, black and gold, and in 40mm and 44mm sizes. Following the Apple Watch’s moves in this direction, the Active 2 may also include an ECG monitor and fall detection.

Friend of Ausdroid Evan Blass has also tweeted some images of Samsung’s upcoming watches, showing off two colour options and the two sizes:

With all these firmer details flying around, we can’t be far from a product launch, and smart money says that the Active 2 will launch alongside the Note 10 next month.
