Lenovo makes some of the better smart displays on the market today, but what if you want a tablet as well?

Now you can have your cake and eat it with a pair of new dockable tablets that work as de facto smart displays. The Smart Tab M8 and Yoga Smart Tab have neat features that may bring the Android tablet back to life.

The Smart Tab M8 is a simpler tablet, with an 8-inch screen, 2GB of RAM, a quad core MediaTek processor and either 16GB or 32GB of storage. Far-field microphones allow the tablet to pick up voice commands from far away while in smart display mode using the included docking station.

The Yoga Smart Tab includes a folding stand that can support the tablet in a variety of orientations – or hang from a picture hook – and has some stronger hardware inside. With a 10-inch full HD display, two RAM and storage configurations (3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage), and a Qualcomm 439 eight-core processor and a huge battery, it’s got power to spare.

Both tablets can make use of the new Google Assistant ambient mode to function as makeshift smart home devices with ease thanks to their dock and stand. Combining the portability of a tablet with the usefulness of a smart display make for a couple of fairly compelling devices.

The Yoga Smart Tab is likely to be the more expensive of the two tablets and is launching in October, while the Smart Tab M8 is yet to receive a confirmed release date and price.
