Optus is putting its money where its corporate mouth is, to prove to customers in regional areas that Optus can deliver the depth and breadth of coverage required of a national, premium mobile carrier.

To do this, it will offer customers in 1,400 regional locations three months of free plan fees on select new mobile services.

Marcus Grimes, Optus’ Head of Regional services said:

“Regional Australians are tired of high prices and we want to remind them that with our premium national network, they have a choice of plans with a stack of value adds.

With more than $6 billion invested into our mobile network in the last five years we are putting our money where our mouth is and asking consumers to give our network a shot.

We are confident that with a mix of strong network coverage and super value they will probably ask themselves why they didn’t make the switch to Optus sooner.”

The announcement comes after the kick-off of a range of new TV commercials getting people talking about their positive experiences with the Optus network.

Customers in these locations can take advantage of three months free plan fees, but also the Optus Coverage Commitment which allows customers – at any point throughout their plan length – to leave the network should coverage issues arise that can’t be resolved.

Interested customers can visit https://offer.optus.com.au/3mthfree to see if they are located in one of the more than 1400 regional locations eligible for the offer. Unfortunately there’s not a list of eligible locations on the Optus website, but if you’re in a regional area, head on over, punch in your post code and see what options are available to you.

Optus’ offer to regional customers is available until 4 November 2019.

I’ve been with Optus for years – no complaints. I’ve got seven numbers five are off contract, just looked into current SIM only plans. No longer any casual plans (month to month?) only 12month minimum. Also appears to be quite dearer than about a year ago – I will be keeping all seven plans as they were.

(A quick look at Telstra, seems even dearer)

I made the switch about 12 months ago today (from Telstra – for well over 10 years).

Never been happier. For now, I can’t imagine not using Optus. Even their bills are easier to understand IMO. 🙂
