Since the Google Pixel 4’s release, we’ve moved on to Galaxy S11 leaks. Details like the camera module design, 5G benchmarks, and local hardware specs have all been rumoured already. But the biggest question remains, when can we buy one?
Prolific Samsung leaker Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S11 series and new foldable models will launch in the States on 18th February – a week ahead of next year’s Mobile World Congress. This would be a similar move to last year, when the S10 launched a few days before the industry event.
If we take all the leaks so far as true, that means the S11 series will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor (in some markets), a 120Hz high refresh rate display, and a 108-megapixel primary camera sensor. It’s safe to assume the new phone will have 5G connectivity too, or at least a 5G-capable model.
The new foldable phones are a different story – unlike the Galaxy Fold which opens up to become larger, Samsung’s new foldables are rumored to have a clamshell design that folds smaller like the folding phones of yore. Personally I’d prefer this design so it takes up a little less space in my pocket and doesn’t place the main functions of the phone on an unwieldy faux-tablet.
This launch date is still a rumour, so take it with a grain of salt. More details are sure to be revealed ahead of Mobile World Congress on the 24th February.
