Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon gets a refresh with new Intel processors

Lenovo’s refreshed ThinkPad X1 Carbon brings better performance while remaining one of the thinnest and lightest ultrabooks on the market.

The new 8th gen X1 Carbon promises incredible features like the ability to begin working in programs seconds after opening the lid, fast AI-focused performance and long battery life. These features are part of an Intel certification called Project Athena.

Like most laptops, there’s a range of options you can spec it out with. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon can be kitted out with up to a 6-core Intel i7, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of solid state storage. When Intel launches its new vPro processors, the X1 Carbon can be configured with those, too.

A range of displays are also available for the 14-inch laptop, including a full HD PrivacyGuard screen that prevents onlookers from seeing your work, and a 4K option. Battery life is said to be up to 18.5 hours. In its lightest configuration, the laptop weighs only 1.09kg.

The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is expected to launch later this year, and starts at US$1499. Local pricing is yet to be confirmed.
