With the first real world images of the Samsung Galaxy S20+ having leaked out yesterday we were expecting the leaks to keep dripping out, and today we might have gotten our first look at the specs for Samsung’s new Ultra Flagship device. As you might expect the specs are fairly high end, which is what we were expecting from a Ultra variant of one of Samsung already highly speced devices.

Inside we’re looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with a 5G modem paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and three storage variants of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB internal and a SD card Slot capable of supporting another 512GB on all models. It’s unclear what the exact RAM and internal Storage SKUs will be, but it’s likely the 16GB RAM option will only be available in the 512GB storage SKU.

We’re also hearing that the Ultra will sport a 120Hz display and alongside all of that to actually keep it running will be a 5000 mAh battery and support for 45W fast charging. Camera-wise the Ultra may also feature the new Samsung 104MP camera we’ve previously heard about, but we’re expecting the images will be down-scaled. There will also be a 48MP 10x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra wide lens. That leaves the 4th camera to likely be a ToF sensor.

One thing is for sure, this phone will be a beast, and likely an overkill as a phone, but with Samsung’s Dex strategy perhaps there is a reason to have a phone with specs that are boarding on better than some cheap laptops? Could the Ultra be marketed as Samsung’s first Laptop replacement phone? A true portable office?

The other thing that is certain is that this thing will cost a fortune, with Samsung releasing the Lite variants of the S10 earlier this month it seems almost paradoxical to be also releasing a far more expensive device. However, our take is in a market with choice where Samsung does offer an affordable but great phone we have no issue with them also offering a insanely over specced expensive device — that’s consumer choice. We’re doubly excited for Unpacked 2020 now.

Other than adding the Spen(which is cool ) to the already amazing specs of the S model , what else can Sammy do to the note model to give something over and above having the S pen ? 4k screen ? A 3.5 mm Headphone jack perhaps ๐Ÿ˜† ? ( That was a bit cheeky of me wasn’t it ) , I would… Read more ยป
