Bringing a standard three-lens camera minimum to the entire range, Samsung’s Galaxy S20 is shaping up to offer an awful lot that consumers are going to want in a 2020 smartphone. One of the main attractions to a Galaxy S series handset, though, isn’t just the good hardware – it’s the smart software which maximises what that hardware can do. Many competitors have introduced multi-lens camera arrays, but few have the software to match.
Samsung’s Galaxy S10 range really brought Samsung up to speed in the multiple camera space (as the Galaxy S9 wasn’t quite so clever), and this year, we’re due to see even more of Samsung’s ever-developing camera prowess.
Max Weinbach of XDA Developers revealed over the weekend another new Galaxy S20 camera feature. The feature is reportedly called QuickTake, and it will capture a scene with all three rear cameras and then let the user choose which of the three photos they want to keep.
Now, we’ve seen something like this before on TCL’s Plex (and elsewhere), but Samsung’s Galaxy S20 range will take that a step further, and offer the same feature but for video recording too. These features will allow users to shoot photos and videos with all three lenses, and then choose / mix and match the ones they like, discarding the rest.
In use, this will mean users can forget about fiddling with lenses and zooms to get the right lens for a shot – they can simply point and shoot, and then select afterwards which one they’d like to keep. Shooting a landscape, you might opt to keep the wide-angle shot, and if you’re shooting a portrait, you might opt for the standard lens.
With a little over a week until Samsung’s Galaxy S20 range launches at Unpacked 2020, we’ll find out whatever little there is left to know about the range soon.
S 20 sounds good ……… but dammit i want the note too .
The front side looks better than my s10e but the rear cameras look hideous. May change to LG when I can afford to upgrade instead. I’m old fashioned and still want an fm tuner which as far as I know lg still has.
