One of the more anticipated phones for the beginning of this year is the OPPO Find X2. The follow up to the highly-successful Find X has had quite a few rumours and leaks lately but until now the release date was unknown, just Q1.

OPPO has now confirmed that it will launch the Find X2 on February 22 in Barcelona prior to MWC. The invite which has been sent out confirms that the announcement will take place at the Auditori Forum CCIB at 2pm on February 22.

The Find X2 is set to be a behemoth of a display with what seems to be the same display as that detailed by OnePlus with both hole-punch OLED displays featuring a QHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, JCND of 0.8, 10-bit colour support and more.

The Find X2 will also sport the new Sony IM698 image sensor which includes the new 2×2 on-chip lens solution and omni-directional PDAF. It is also expected to house a Snapdragon 865 and thus 5G technology.

OPPO have done away with their pop-up cameras with the Find X2 and are going for the single hole-punch display, rumoured for a while and confirmed last night by Ice Universe. There is also expect to be a Find X2 Pro although it is unclear if both of these will be headed to all markets.

We are really looking forward to testing out the Find X2 along with the Android 10-toting ColorOS 7 to watch and enjoy the continual improvement of ColorOS. We have no doubt that it will be available here in Australia but are unsure when — it took a few months for us to get the Reno 5G last year after it was released. You would expect though that given the lack of new 5G phones since last year’s mid-year launch that the carrier with 5G networks will be keen to get this one onto their network.

Stay tuned as we bring you all the information live from the OPPO event in Barcelona.
