Ring are one of the biggest names in home security. They offer video doorbells, cameras for indoor and outdoor use and a range of accessories. This morning the announcement that the Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus can be pre-ordered now or purchased off the shelf late April.

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 will set you back $329.00 or if you choose to go for the plus, you’ll be looking at $369.00 with both offering an evolution on the previous generation.

Both feature dual-band Wi-Fi (for anyone with a first generation doorbell and new router, you know the connection struggle) to improve your connectivity. Once connected you also have a higher level of adjustability to your motion detection zones, reducing false positives and – if you’re using the device on battery – improving the life of your device. There is also the additional functionality to exclude areas from video recording to protect your privacy in your home.

With the new doorbells, Ring has also launched their redesigned Ring Chime ($49) and Chime Pro ($79) for users who want audible notifications in their home as well as on their devices. With adjustable volume for the chime and other features like a night light – on the Chime Pro – it can add a dimension previously unseen to your Ring device.

Pre-Roll is a first to market technology for battery based devices

The feature is available to buyers of the Video Doorbell 3 Plus and is simple on paper. If you get a motion notification you can view the four seconds prior to the notification triggering. This has potential to assist users who are unfortunate enough to have porch pirates in the area and parcels disappear.

At Ring, we are continuously pushing the boundaries to bring the most innovative devices and features to our customers. While features similar to Pre-Roll have been available on our wired devices, we believe it is important to also offer this feature to users with a battery-powered Video doorbell.

As mentioned you can pre-order now from the usual retail chains in Australia, but note, if you’re very keen JB Hi-Fi have a 60 day exclusive on the doorbells before other retailers.
