This morning Google released the full stable version of Android 11 into the world and specifically mentioned “OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and realme”. We have now heard from OPPO regarding their plans and it’s faster than we thought it would be.

OPPO have made their final (we hope) beta of ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 available to the public in limited numbers and only to owners of Find X2, Find X2 Pro, Reno3, and Reno3 Pro phones.

The global launch of stable ColorOS 11 is not far away though. It will of course be an online launch and will take place on September 14 and will “showcase the full suite of features that complement the stock Android experience”.

OPPO continues to work in close collaboration with our long-standing partner, Google, to deliver exceptional user experiences to our customers. We are proud to be launching ColorOS11, welcoming Google’s Android 11 release with our highly customised, efficient and intelligent Android-based mobile OS. Michael Tran, OPPO Australia MD

At this stage there are no details when the final stable version will be available to the public but we expect to see a rollout plan next week at the ColorOS 11 launch.

OPPO seems set on becoming one of the first manufacturers to upgrade their devices to Android 11. We will of course be watching closely as we have been critical of their and others’ updating attempts in the past.
