Jabra are undeniably one of the best makers of truly wireless earbuds around. While it’s never possible to declare one brand the overall best, Jabra has consistently lead the development of the category with the Elite X5t range. Today they have unveiled this years entrant the Jabra Elite 85t and it’s packing some great additions.

Last years 75t brought a smaller form factor, better battery life, Bluetooth 5.0 and an overall polish to the product. This years Elite 85t adds two of the three missing features — wireless charging (using the Qi standard) and active noise cancellation (ANC). What’s the third missing feature? Passive tracking for lost buds like Tile integration, read our review of last years 75T here.

The ANC is achieved thanks to the Qualcomm chip inside and Jabra is utilising a semi open design and multiple ANC microphones to reduce noise and stop feedback with a microphone monitoring the earbuds output. Using ANC your battery life will take a hit of course dropping the 31 hours of total play time down to 25 — between charges you can get 5.5 hours of ANC usage.

The Jabra Elite 85t will be released online and at selected retailers from November this year in Titanium/Black and from January 2021 in Gold/Beige, Copper/Black, Black and Grey colours. US pricing will be US$229 which should see an Australian launch price around the $330 mark. We have reached out to Jabra Australia for local pricing and availability.

Have they managed to allow for either bud to be used separately yet (especially the left)? That’s what’s stopping me from biting from them. Cheers.

We just hit peak wireless buds. These should be awesome!
