HMD Global, the powerhouse brand behind Nokia smartphones, is launching their first ever 5G device with the Nokia 8.3 5G, which is also the new 00 agent smartphone in the latest James Bond movie, along with the budget friendly Nokia 3.4 device in Australia from early October.

The Nokia 8.3 5G smartphone showcases HMD Global’s commitment to security, speed and innovation by meeting the demands of the world toughest customers – 00 Agents – along with bringing new levels of connectivity with advanced 5G network compatibility and a powerful PureView quad-camera with cinematic video recording and editing capabilities and the usual Nokia/HMD Global Finnish design.

The Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a 6.81-inch edge-to-edge PureDisplay (1080 x 2400) display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G modular platform chipset and 8GB RAM with 128GB on board storage which can be expanded to 512GB via MicroSD card.

As stated, the Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a quad-camera PureView set up that is made up of a ZEISS Optics 64MP and 12MP ultra wide main cameras along with 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro lense. There is also a ZEISS Optics 24MP front facing camera housed in a teardrop housing.

The Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a 4500mAh battery along with a USB-C cord charger, along with NFC, Wi-Fi capabilities and a 3.5mm audio jack for those who still like to have this feature available on their device. It will run Android 10 right out of the box, with HMD Global advising that the Nokia 8.3 5G is Android 11 ready, though no timeframe for this firmware update rolling out was provided.

The Nokia 8.3 5G in Polar Night, will be available for online pre-order at JB Hi-Fi from today, Thursday 24th September, for $899 and includes a bonus pre-order gift of the new Nokia Power Earbuds Lite that usually retails at $99.

The Nokia 8.3 5G will also be available to pre-order from Amazon Australia on 1st October, with the device officially retailing both online and in store through retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Amazon Australia and Harvey Norman from October 15th.

Nokia 3.4

The Nokia 3.4, its 4th edition of the budget mid tier device that combines reliability, premium design and the best of Android in a durable package that’s true to its Finnish roots.

The Nokia 3.4 comes with a 6.39” HD+ hole punch display (720 x 1560) that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset and comes in either 3GB or 4GB RAM with either 32GB or 64GB onboard storage which can be expanded to 512GB via MicroSD card.

In terms of rear camera set up, the Nokia 3.4 comes with a triple camera set up that is made up of a 13MP main camera along with a 2MP depth sensor and 5MP ultra wide camera set up. The front facing camera comes with a modest 8MP camera.

The Nokia 3.4 comes with Bluetooth version 4.2, Wi-Fi, USB-C charger, 4000mAh non removable battery and 3.5mm audio jack for those who still wish for this feature. HMD Global have stated that the Nokia 3.4 comes with Android 10 right out of the box but is Android 11 ready, though no timeframes for this to occur was provided or disclosed. The Nokia 3.4 also comes with HMD Global’s Family Link which can help parents set up healthy habits to help guide your kids as they learn, play and explore through their smartphone device and keeping them protected.

HMD Global have stated that the Nokia 3.4 will be available in Australia soon, although no official date or time frame has been provided but we will reach out to HMD Global Australia for further information.

8.3 comes with LCD screen! What were they thinking?! Huge disappointment.

I’m not seeing a teardrop front facing camera on either of these phones. Both look to have a nicely discrete hole punch camera in the upper left of the screens.
