It seems like just over 12 months ago we saw the OPPO Reno version one introduced to Australia but it seems time moves quickly in OPPO-ville with the fourth generation of the Reno now being released into Australia.

Available for pre-sale now, the new Reno4 5G and Reno4 Z 5G both sit in the mid-range but hope to bring a high quality imaging experience to you focusing on their camera’s low-light capabilities. The devices will retail for $799 and $599 respectively and are designed to offer “premium technology and enhanced camera capabilities” at an “affordable” price point.

Reno4 5G

The higher end of the two, the Reno4 5G has a triple rear camera setup which includes a 48MP main lens, 8MP wide-angled lens and a 2MP depth sensor which is capable of their new capability of Ultra Night Video and Ultra Steady Video 3.0. Selfie-wise there is a dual front camera setup with a 32MP and 2MP lens. The display itself is a 6.4-inch AMOLED 1080P 60Hz display powered by a Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

The 4,020mAh battery is charged with their incredibly fast 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charge technology which will charge the battery from empty to 60% in just 15 minutes — something you may need if using it extensively on the supported 5G networks. It does support all Australian 5G bands.

Reno4 Z 5G

The more wallet-friendly Reno4 Z 5G is powered by a Mediatek MT6873 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The display in this model is a 6.5-inch 1080P LCD display capable of a 120Hz refresh rate. The camera hardware, although a quad camera, is apparently a slight step down in quality albeit still with a 48MP main lens and the same 8MP wide-angled lens.

The selfie camera is once again a dual lens system with a 16MP and 2MP lens making up this one. The 4,000mAh battery in the Reno4 Z is charged using 18W fast charging technology. It also supports the same 5G bands that the Reno4 does.

Pricing and availability

The Reno4 5G has a RRP of $799 and is available in Galactic Blue and Space Black whereas the Reno4 Z 5G retails for $599 and is available in Dew White and Ink Black.

Available for pre-order now and shipping/on sale on October 12 it is available at JB Hi-Fi, MobileCiti, Bing Lee, Amazon, Woolworths and Officeworks (no pre-order at OW). Those who pre-order the Reno4 5G at JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, Woolworths or MobileCiti will receive a set of OPPO Enco W31 True Wireless Earphones valued at $199 for free. Pre-order the Reno4 Z 5G at the same places and you will receive the OPPO Enco W11 True Wireless Earphones valued at $149 for free.

Once again the mid-range market is expanding with these offerings and given how good these mid-range devices are getting at everything including photography it is easy to see why the majority of customers shop in this range. If this is you these Reno4 offerings look like phones worth considering.

Would be great if the Reno4 5G had 90hz minimum on the oled screen and Reno4 Z 5G having LCD display is just dismal. Gotta give these phone a pass.
