D-Link Australia/New Zealand has launched several of it’s new COVR AX next-generation mesh Wi-Fi 6 systems in Australia straight away after announcing them at CES.

It’s nice that Australia gets to be at the front of the queue and good on D-link for making all their CES 2021 announced new routers and mesh systems Easymesh compatible.

If you’d like to know what EasyMesh is read my explainer. TLDR all Easymesh devices should work with all other Easymesh devices, even if they’re from different brands.

COVR AX pricing is substantially less than competitors Netgear’s Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems and both support ethernet backhaul between the mesh nodes.

So if your home or office has network ports everywhere connected by ethernet cable back to a central location then the COVR AX dual band mesh is a good choice and will save a lot of money.

However it should be noted that while the D-link top end COVR AX models are dual band, the Netgear top end Wi-Fi 6 mesh models are tri-band.

The third band provides a big performance boost for mesh systems when used without ethernet backhaul between nodes because it enables a dedicated Wi-Fi band for data transfer between mesh nodes.

If you like connecting your network devices scattered across your home/office via cables you’ll be glad to hear each COVR AX mesh node has 4 gigabit network ports. This is especially handy if you live/work in an area that has many clashing Wi-Fi access points competing and disrupting each other.

AX1800 Dual Band Seamless Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Systems consist of the:

Yes that means it’s a modular system which is great. You could buy one, two or three COVR point mesh nodes and add another one later with ease.

The COVR AX Series utilises OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology which communicates more data to more devices whilst simultaneously reducing latency. It also has BSS colouring which helps organise data packets, making your network more efficient and improving Wi-Fi 6 device performance even further.

The battery life of your connected devices can also be enhanced with Target Wake Time (TWT) technology and if you want to know just how fast your Internet connection really is there’s a built-in Speedtest Ookla service.

The COVR-X1873 is powered by three AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 COVR Points seamlessly working together and is the ideal solution for filling a medium to large sized home up to 740 square metres with complete Wi-Fi coverage.

Another part of the COVR AX Series appeal is the way it reduces buffering and lag by using D-Link’s Smart Steering technology to automatically direct your device to the optimum wireless band, based on your current network traffic.

This means smooth Wi-Fi delivery for every device in the home, no matter how old or new it is, with no more frustrating interruptions within your wireless network.

Combine this with Smart Roaming which keeps you constantly connected to the strongest signal even as you move from room to room, eliminating that annoying and frustrating cycle of disconnecting and reconnecting to different networks. COVR AX gives you one seamless network with no dropouts, all across your home.

Finally the setup process for the COVR AX Series is as simple and straightforward as you expect from D-Link devices, allowing you to enjoy a quick and easy installation via the free D-Link Wi-Fi app.

On top of this, the new COVR AX Series also supports and easily integrates with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for ultra-convenient hands-free voice control.
