As consumers, we are consistently asking more and more of our devices. So much so that fitness trackers are now expected to do a lot more, not just track your activities. Huawei has recognised that and introduced the Huawei Band 6, a bigger, better and far more capable activity tracking smart wearable.

It has a pretty comprehensive spec sheet which is headlined by the presentation. A far larger than “normal” screen in the 1.47-inch AMOLED FullView Display. This spans across nearly the full width of the band with a 64 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The screen also has an impressive 194 x 368 resolution at 282PPI making it smooth and easy on the eyes.

It would be very easy to let features get in the way of form, but — at least on paper — that doesn’t seem to be the case. The Band 6 weighs a meagre 18 grams yet still carries a battery capable of two weeks of normal use and just a 5 minute charge should give you about 2 extra days.

As you would expect from a device of this physical size, swipe controls are the user interface. This is where you’ll gain access to the:

  • All day Sp02 monitoring with alarms for low levels
  • Constant heart rate monitoring
  • Sleep and stress level monitoring
  • For ladies: Menstrual cycle tracking

The activity and fitness tracking are of similar levels to the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro we reviewed not long ago with 96 workout modes available. The amount of data captured gives you the opportunity to not just track, but analyse your performance and improvements.

As a smart device, you’ll have access to a variety of notifications, music controls and call management. This looks to be a simple and intuitive as other devices we’ve seen from Huawei, and indeed, many other manufacturers. If this is sounding worth a look, the Huawei Band 6 is available now in-store and online for an RRP of AU$139.00
