I am surprised that no one is mentioning that the Ausdroid podcasts seem to be recorded at a much lower volume than most podcasts available to download. I wouldn’t mind at least a 20-30% increase in the overall volume!

File size can change due to increased or decreased bitrate (kbps) or frequency (kHz) which is also known as sample rate. For example, you can double a file size by changing it’s sampling rate from 44.1 to 88.2 kHz. Some audio equipment will upsample like this to improve quality. For digging deep into an AV file’s properties I recommend MediaInfo for Windows.

Thanks Lucas and sorry that my first post was a criticism I didn’t mean it to be I was just surprised to see the mp3 so big. Just finished listening to the podcast & the audio quality was better this time I think but it’s never been bad – not much you can do about outside noises! You’ve obviously sorted the issues you had with people dropping out on the last podcast – could hear everyone all the time.

1hr 25mins maybe 40mb max.
I’m not too sure why the MP3 is so big. It normally isn’t, must have to do with a change in codec somewhere along the line. I will look into it
Agreed…. Its a bit on the heavy side, say compared to the latest twit…. 1 hr 50mins and its only 48mb…..
