Huawei - Media Pad Lite
Coles has released their latest upcoming catalogue which begins on Wednesday the 19th of December and goes through to Monday the 24th of December and inside is a pretty good deal, a Huawei MediaPad 7Lite with Telstra Elite mobile Wi-Fi bundled with 5GB of data for just $149. The previous tablet that Coles sold the Pendo pad, there were issues such as lack of access to Google Play as well as a pretty unknown manufacturer, the Huawei Media Pad is from a pretty well known if not respected manufacturer.

The Coles advert lists the tablet as having a 7″ High Resolution Display and 1.2GHz processor running Android 4.0(Ice Cream Sandwich). A look at places such as the Huawei Devices product page sheds a little more information but also lists the device as having 3G so they are definitely not the same as this deal includes a Telstra Wi-Fi dongle to provide mobile data.

The deal is limited to 1 per customer with no trade sales, the offer lists an option of colours(unspecified) but advises they may vary at participating outlets and the included Data is only valid for 30 days. All in all If you are looking at purchasing this device I would definitely double check the rest of the specs when in-store to make sure you’re making the best decision.

Update – I contacted Huawei to confirm the specifications, they were able to advise that the tablet is definitely Wi-Fi only so there is definitely no 3G radio inside and they’ve also supplied these specs :
Display : 7โ€ IPS LCD ,1024*600 Pixels

I bought one today ๐Ÿ™‚ I have been wanting a tablet for ages, but don’t have much money to spend (even $150 was a stretch for me, but decided it would be my Christmas present to myself). I had tried to pick up one of the $99 Onix tablets that were selling at Aldi recently, but they were all sold out. Anyway, I did lots of research online about the Mediapad 7 Lite before deciding to buy it. There are a few in depth reviews around, some negative, some positive. My first thoughts are that I’m pretty impressed. But this… Read more ยป

I bought the pendo pad at coles last week for $88, it works a treat. Sure it is lacking the play store, the browser works quite well and I,m happy considering my budget is very tight t the moment. I will be buying a nexus 7 in Feb and handing this to the missus, since all she dose is facebook.

According to the review of this tablet on PhoneArena, apparently this tablet can be used as a phone.

I think this might be a viable replacement for my old Telstra T-Touch Tab (aka the Huawei Smarkit S7-104)
Thanks for the heads-up, Daniel

I think there is a slight difference in the one Coles have got their hands on. Both the PhoneArena review and also there is a review of one on AndroidPolice seem to mention that it has a 3G radio in it and I can’t see why Coles would be offering the Mi-Fi with this if it did.

If you do decide to get one, let us know what you think of it. ๐Ÿ™‚
