After announcing that they were bringing a Haswell based Chromebook to market back in September we heard very little from the company in the intervening months, now amongst the glitz and glamour that is CES 2014, Toshiba has finally launched their 13.3″ Chromebook.

The 13.3″ screen on the Toshiba Chromebook offers a 1,366×768 resolution and is powered by a Haswell based Celeron 2955U CPU, which offers consumers up to 9 hours of battery life by utilising the power sipping technology of the Haswell chipset. The Toshiba Chromebook comes with 2GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD, to connect it offers a dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi connection as well as two USB 3.0 ports, it also includes a HDMI out and SDXC card reader.

The Toshiba Chromebook will be available in the US for $279 from February 16th. Toshiba Australia is still evaluating bringing the Toshiba Chromebook to our shores advising in October that :

Toshiba is looking at the option of releasing a 13.3” Chromebook in 2014, but nothing is confirmed at this stage.

We will be following up with Toshiba for a more up to date quote on availability in Australia and will advise if they have anything to announce.
