headder

Chromebooks still remain a bit of a favourite around here, and with the promise of Android apps on the horizon, we don’t expect that to change anytime soon. However, if you’re in the market for a ‘high-end’ Chromebook your choices can be a little limited.

It looks like Samsung has a new device heading to the market to add at least on more option to the table, the Samsung Chromebook Pro (seriously Chromebooks need a naming refresh). The 12.3″ QHD device looks to be packing a great balance of specs, design and price, check it out below.

The 360-degree convertible laptop leaked out on a few online retail sites providing an almost complete picture of what the device holds in store for us. The Chromebook Pro should include:

  • 12.3″ LED QHD (2400 x 1600)  touchscreen display @ 234ppi
  • OP1 Hexa-core (2 x A72, 4 x A53 cores) 2 GHz Processor
  • 4GBRAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • S Pen
  • 2 x USB C (charging and data)
  • All aluminium construction
  • 360degree laptop form-factor
  • up to 10 hours battery life

While the specifics of the processor remain a mystery, and the RAM could be a little higher this looks like it’s going to be a great Chromebook, and starting at $499 USD it may just be within reach of the average consumer. The original retail leak suggested a shipping date of October 24, which is just a few weeks away.

It’s unclear if Samsung will keep this date or wait for the Note 7 issues to blow over a little first. It’s also unclear if the Samsung Chromebook Pro is intended for the Australian market. You can be sure that once it’s official we will be chasing up Samsung Australia.

Overall, the Chromebook Pro looks to be a stunning device with a great mix of design, features and technology. If it delivers on all the promises it seems to make I could definitely find a home for one of these in my life.

Hopefully easy to get in Australia.

This looks awesome. Could function as an ipad pro competitor too if the stylus is any good.

Just exploded, hahaha
