Clear your calendars people, Google’s annual developer conference Google I/O will again be held in May with the venue moving from its traditional home of Moscone West in San Francisco to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, specifically to the Shoreline Amphitheatre where the first Google I/O took place.
The announcement of Google I/O 2016 has come from Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Google+ where he said :
Exciting news: we’re only 18 weeks away from Google I/O! 2016 is going to be a special year for us — we held our first developer day 10 years ago at the Googleplex. To celebrate our 10th anniversary of developer gatherings, we’ll be hosting I/O in our backyard at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA from May 18th – 20th. We’ll have 3 full days together to dive deep into developer content, code labs, and more. If you can’t make it in person, you can still join us via I/O Live and through an I/O Extended event in your local community. Stay tuned to #io16 and +GoogleDevelopers in the coming weeks for more details.
At this stage, the Google I/O website has not been updated but Sundar has promised that more details will be forthcoming. Whether the Shoreline Amphitheatre holds more people isn’t clear and how Google will handle allocation of tickets hasn’t been announced, but we’re sure those details will be forthcoming.
Ausdroid was lucky enough to attend Google I/O 2015 and we hope to once again attend Google I/O to bring you all the latest news and Australian relevant news as it happens.
I feel sorry for the attendees. Getting a hotel in Mountain View can be rather difficult, and peak hour traffic around the Googleplex is horrendous. Hopefully Google has a plan.
Hoping to see live coverage from Dan again, enjoyed the Australian coverage last year.
