The countdown to the release of the Pixel 2/Pixel XL 2 means we’re seeing leaks. The Pixel has hit the FCC, and while the Pixel XL 2 hasn’t yet it looks like it made it to the Global Certification Forum (GCF) earlier this month.
The handset is, as we’ve been expecting made by LG, with the model # G011C. This model # first surfaced in a document attached to the bug report, so it looks like this is LG’s Pixel XL 2.
The GCF listing shows that the phone covers all the Australian LTE bands we need including Band 1 (2100MHz), 3 (1800MHz), 5 (850MHz), 7 (2600MHz), 8 (900MHz), 28 (700MHz) and 40 (2300MHz FD-LTE for Optus). As for 3G bands all are covered for the Australian market as well – we use 3G Band 1 (2100MHz), 5 (850MHz) and 8 (900MHz).

At this stage there’s no sign of the HTC built Pixel 2 – Model # NM8G011A – on the GCF. The Pixel 2 did pass through the FCC earlier this week, but the LG made Pixel XL 2 hasn’t made through there as yet.
Google will be announcing Android O via a streaming event on August 21st (August 22nd at 4:40am AEST for us in Australia), but there’s no indication we’ll see the Pixel 2/Pixel XL 2 at that event. We’ll be tuning in for Android O and hopefully we’ll get a better idea of when to expect the new hardware very soon.
