If you’ve been waiting to see what the JBL Link View Smart Display will cost when it launches in Australia later this month – we have it – it’s in the title ;).
The JBL Link View is now showing up on the Harvey Norman website with a $349 price tag, and though you can order one they’re listed as ‘Out of Stock’ at all stores with a lead time of 6-14 days, which fits with JBL’s previous announcement that it would arrive in Australia at the end of October.
In terms of pricing, the JBL Smart Display is coming in at $50 more than the 8″ Lenovo Smart Display which is priced at $299.
Like the Lenovo model, the JBL Smart Display includes an 8″ HD resolution screen, though has the additional benefit of twin front-facing speakers which should in theory offer a better sound. The JBL Smart Display also lists an IPX4 rating making it splash proof, which sets it ahead of the Lenovo model which has no such rating.
If you’re after a bit of a comparison, the B&H Photo Video site has a decent rundown, though many of the JBL Link View Specs are missing.
JBL Australia hasn’t yet added the Link View to their website as yet, so if you want any further information you can check out the US site for a more complete rundown.
In terms of availability we should see the JBL Link View also head to JB Hifi as well as Harvey Norman, as well as go on-sale through the JBL website later this month. We’ve reached out to JBL Australia for more details and we’ll update when they have something to announce.
That’s actually a reasonable price, considering it’s splashproof, and has better sound, all for an extra $50 or so
hmm i personally don’t think it’s worth the extra $50, the Lenovo smart display has a splashproof coating too and I heard from some of my friends in the US that the sound quality is pretty crisp too. Personally think it looks way better than the JBL’s design lol
I like the functionality of the smart displays (i think) more than smart speakers .
Being able see timers , watch videos ,
And the potential to see your smart security cameras , or make video calls , and see your smart home controls.
This steps up the usefulness of ai in a big way in my book.
I would like to see some bigger screens though .
Yeah I agree that bigger screens would have a greater appeal for me too. Don’t mind me asking, which of the smart displays would you purchase?
