Until now, the only way to watch every match of the Hyundai A-League was to subscribe to Foxtel. For people like us, who don’t really watch Foxtel except for the football, this can be kind of expensive. Telstra’s new My Football Live app changes all of this.
Under the new deal, Telstra’s My Football Live app will offer every match live, as well as select FFA Cup, Westfield W-League, Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas games, including Caltex Socceroos home friendlies and select Asian Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification games.
In addition to streaming live matches, the app provides the latest in football news, full-match replays, live radio with the ‘listen live’ feature, team and player stats, and text-based match commentary. Sadly, though, there’s no Chromecast support, so you’re left with viewing on your phone or compatible tablet.
The live, fast and data-free streaming of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season will be available to all eligible Telstra mobile customers. Non-Telstra customers can purchase a $99.99 annual Live Pass, $16.99 monthly Live Pass, or $4.99 weekly Live Pass. As a special introductory offer for non-Telstra customers new to any existing Live Pass, the annual pass can be purchased for $79.99 until 15 January 2019.
Telstra customers do get a few bonuses that non-customers do not, including $20 Telstra Thanks tickets to select A-League matches, as well as a number of Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas home fixtures from as little as $15, so fans can experience the thrill of football live.

The only reason I have Foxtel is A-league & Formula 1 so now it’s down to just F1.
In other markets F1 now have its own subscription based streaming service but we’re locked out in Australia currently.
If you can live with a slightly pixelated image, you can cast your device screen and then watch the My Football Live app on your TV. That’s what I did yesterday for the Jets game. Probably not worth it on a screen larger than 50″, and even that’s being generous, but it’s better than a phone screen, or not watching it at all, which would be my alternative as I’ll never get FoxTel.
I thought the A-League rights were purchased by Network Ten, to be screened on its Channel One. Free-to-air. I might be wrong.
Channel 10 only simulcasts the Saturday night game. All games are still on Foxtel unfortunately.
And for that reason, I don’t see the My Football Live app ever getting Chromecast support as it may compete with Foxtel Now…
Exactly. The TV broadcast rights are locked up with Foxtel and Channel 10. No way they will allow an app the rights to broadcast to a TV, as that might eat into their subscriptions.
The lack of Chromecast support or even tablet/laptop support kills it for me.
