Chrome for Android gets better and better everyday, and with the launch of Chromecast in Australia seemingly slated for next week – at least according to last Sunday’s Dick Smith slip-up – it’s getting a timely update indeed, with Google adding Chromecast support to the browser.

The Chromecast compatability showed up in the changelog in the update to the latest version. Chromecast support actually came to Chrome Beta for Android last month, now it’s hit the mainstream with the main Chrome for Android browser. Launching alongside the Chromecast support is another interesting feature – the option to re-open a tab you’ve just closed.

As you can see from the list below, there’s also inclusions for full-screen HTML5 video support and a strange one ‘Support for some multi-window devices’ – perhaps Samsung’s multi-tasking option, and as usual, the star of any release: Bug Fixes!

  • Undo Tab Close
  • Full-screen video with Subtitles and HTML5 controls
  • Support for some multi-window devices
  • Support for casting some videos with Chromecast
  • Other bug fixes

You can download the update to Chrome now from Google Play where it’s available for Android devices running Android 4.0 and upwards.

The cast video option was working earlier. Now, a few hours later, the cast icon (and option to cast) is gone, on the same website. It was working great. Hope it comes back.

I noticed last night that holding down on a video and choosing ‘save link’ doesn’t download the video anymore?? well, at least the download logo in the top left hand corner doesn’t show up anymore.
