Google announced support for GPS and on-device music playback paired with Bluetooth headset compatibility and downloadable watchfaces last month. Google today started pushing out an update to their companion app this morning which looks to be paving the way for the update.
With the big Android Wear update rumoured to begin hitting Android Wear devices in the middle of this month, so rolling out the update now allows for some time to iron out any bugs. Android Police have done an initial look into the new app, which from an initial look appears to support the idea that the update will support the new update. The Android Wear app is updating to version 1.0.2 (from 1.0.1) and is 3MB larger than the previous version.
Along with the updates expected, Android Police has also seen mentions of ‘Personal Unlocking’, which Google announced back at Google I/O and will allow the watch to act as a trusted Bluetooth device and keep your phone unlocked while in range.
Android Wear 1.0.2 will be rolling out to phones shortly, if you absolutely must have the latest and greatest, Android Police have begun hosting the APK on their APKMirror site.
Received the update tonight, no noticeable difference on the phone or the watch
