In the latest update, our favourite podcast app, Pocket Casts, has added Android Wear browsing to their feature list.
The Android Wear 5.1.1 update gave us the ability to launch the Android Wear mini-app from the apps list, the previous update to Pocket Casts gave us an option to look at the ‘Up Next’ play list and now we can browse your list of subscribed podcasts. Or, as described by the Shifty Jelly Team – making reference to their awesome win at Google I/O for Material Design – they say :
We’re back! Did you miss us? We kinda missed you a bit. We did have a shiny Material Design Award to keep us company though, so you know, it wasn’t all bad. We’ve stopped fondling it (don’t judge us, you would have too!) for long enough to bring you all an update!
If you love browsing, and you love Pocket Casts, you’ll love browsing Pocket Casts on your Android Wear device! It’s worth buying one just for this. Do it.
This release has plenty of fixes in it too, because we know you love those.
The update is fairly neat functionally, and as we expect from Shifty Jelly extremely easy to use. Once you’ve got your podcast playing simply swipe to the left past the mini-player, the star/Unstar screen and get to the Browse section.
Once you hit Browse, you can check through your list of podcasts by Podcasts, Unplayed, Audio, Downloaded, by Filter and by Playlist.
Once you select your podcast from any of the lists you can start it playing from your watch – simply, this is an awesome amount of control from your watch.
Ensure you have the latest version of Pocket Casts from Google Play and that it’s synced to your watch and enjoy the update.
