Xperia Z - Optus
Optus has just advised that the Sony Xperia Z will go on-sale today online, in selected stores and through phone sales. The phone is available on the Optus 4G Network which is now live in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle, Adelaide, Surfers Paradise and Brisbane CBD. But fear not if you live outside of those markets as the Xperia Z works just as well on 3G.

The Xperia Z is available for existing Optus customers for $0 upfront on the $60 plan on a 24 month contract(min total cost $1440). However, somewhat inexplicably Optus has decided that new customers will be charged a $3 handset repayment to enter into the same 24 month contract(min total cost $1512). The $60 a month plan has $650 of included value, 1.5GB mobile data, unlimited standard national SMS and unlimited voice calls to Optus mobiles, all within Australia.

To check out the phone and the other plans available head over to the Optus Xperia Z webpage .

I kept witj optus, stupidly because they gave me a free upgrade to the s3 when I had 9 months to go when it was launch
I was too caught up in the hype. If only I had was for the 4g version id b happy still as my gf has the note 2 4g and where I am it works fantastic for 4g. So I will get the s4 4g or xperia z 4g and be a lil more satisfies til thos contract runs out

i dont see issue with this, atleast they are giving there long term customers a discount for staying with them.

I still get a lot of blank stares when I suggest people buy a phone outright and go prepaid or non contact. But we must keep it up

What’s the word on the Xperia ZL at Optus, or other providers?

Way to kick new customers in the balls for being stupid enough to sign with you Opt us…

Optus network is just as bad as Vodafone

nevetsg

Getting worse since ex-Vodaphoners are jumping over. I often force 2G just to get faster speeds…

vijay alapati

ordered mine from vodafone for $29 Cap (Since i’m a old customer) with $10 handset repayment. Total of $39

Hoff

How are you finding Vodafone as a provider? Currently have 2 months left on my SGS2 contract and personally I can’t wait to move to Telstra as my phone feels crippled by their terrible data speeds

vijay alapati

Currenty its bad, but keeping my fingers crossed for their 4g rollout, still they are cheap compared to others

Greg McPherson

Get it out on sale for a month before all are crushed by the Korean Gorilla….

I’ll have to find an Optus store with it in stock. Just so I can pick one up.

Cooper

Why not wait until after the Korean Godzilla launches and pick up a Z cheap?

Greg McPherson

I meant physically pick one up.
I’m not buying one. I’m not in the market for a phone at all at the moment.

I just want to touch one.
