The well regarded Snapdragon 835 powered flagship from HMD Global, the Nokia 8 is set to receive it’s Android 8.0 update, with HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas announcing the update on Twitter.

Mr Sarvikas tweeted previously in mid-September that the update was in testing, but he’s updated further overnight, saying that it’s finally starting to roll out:

Over on reddit, there are reports that users are already starting to see the update on their handsets. Mr Sarvikas clarified that the update will roll out over the next 2 days, with some carrier branded handsets needing to wait for testing to be completed before their handsets receive the update.

The 1.5GB Oreo update for the Nokia 8 includes all the Oreo goodies such as Picture-in-Picture, Notification Dots, Autofill passwords, Google Play Protect security scans, Faster bootup as well as an update to the November security patch.

The Nokia 8 is selling for $899 through JB Hifi in Australia, where you can choose between a Polished Blue or Steel coloured model. We don’t currently have a Nokia 8 on hand to check, but if you see the update on your handset let us know in the comments.
