It seems that Google only very recently rolled out the official Android 7.1.1 for Nexus and Pixel devices. Now, beginning today, it is possible to upgrade yet again to the new 7.1.2 version of Android if your device is one of those select devices within the Android Beta Program.
Via their Android Developers Blog Dave Burke, VP Of Engineering, has announced the rollout of Android Nougat 7.1.2 as a public beta to “eligible devices that are enrolled in the Android Beta Program, including Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices.” At this stage it is not ready for the Nexus 6P but they expect that to “release soon”.
Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users.
Once the actual beta hits our devices we will know more detail about what is included but at this stage we only have what Dave has given us. What is conspicuous in its absence is the Nexus 6. The 2014 Nexus phone has reached its end-of-life for updates so may languish officially on 7.1.1 for all time.
The easiest way to get this update is to sign up your eligible devices at the Android Beta Program website but you can also download the update files and sideload them to your device yourself if your are ok with doing that. For those who want to wait for it to be released officially as a stable release you may have to wait a couple of months.

Um it has been announced that N6 won’t be going past 7.1.1
The Nexus 6P is the same generation as the 5X, so it would be a very odd decision to upgrade one but not the other.
