Back in July Google began introducing the Material Design inspired look to Chrome, updating Chrome Beta for Android with Material Design. Today, they’ve announced the stable version of Chrome for Android will also get the update.

The new Chrome for android – Version 37.0.2062.117 – won’t fully bring the Material Design experience to handsets sans the Android L update, but rather brings a Material Design inspired look. The update brings about many new animations, as well as a new incognito tab with corresponding updated incognito icon.

The full list of updates according to Google include :

  • Signing in to Chrome signs you in to your favorite Google sites.
  • Updated look and feel with elements of Material Design.
  • Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements!

One major update that many will wonder about is the removal of the refresh button from the address bar. You’ll now find that tucked away in the overflow menu – we’re not too sure about that decision.

The update is rolling out to handsets now, so wait for the prompt to update in Google Play

The refresh button movement is a terrible decision!

I missed this material design version of Chrome when I went from the L Preview back to Kit Kat. It’s nice to have it back.
