Facebook has pushed out a new app which creates a chain of videos centred on a specific topic and enables you to share these video much more easily with your friends.
The app, called Riff, originally began as a side project and was created by its own dedicated team within Facebook. The teams objective was to create an easy way for anyone to collaborate on videos.
The company said in a press release that:
“Anyone can start by creating a video. All you have to do is give it a topic, like #AprilFools, then your friends can view it and choose to add their own clips on that topic. Once a friend adds a clip to your video, your friend’s friends will also be shown the video in Riff and will be able to add to it. The potential pool of creative collaborators can grow exponentially from there, so a short video can become an inventive project between circles of friends that you can share to Facebook, or anywhere on the internet, at any time.”
Basically how it works is that you need to start a topic, share your video or clips on the same topic, with say another friend adding their own video or clip on the same topic. The clips are then added to the original and first clip to create this video story of the topic and therefore reducing the need for separate video posts shared over time.
