After being purchased by US-based sports clothing and accessories company Under Armour earlier this year, My Fitness Pal has announced that they are adding a premium level for users, with the introduction of a monthly or yearly fee.

The fee is for people wanting to know more about their food intake, as well as getting access to a range of new premium features. The features will be available to both Android and iOS users for $9.99 per month or $49.99 per year and offer premium level customers bonus features such as:

  • Ad-free Experience: Access MyFitnessPal on your Android or iOS device, or on the web, and enjoy all of premium’s awesome features without the distraction of banner ads.
  • VIP Customer Support: Jump to the front of the line when you need help from our world-class customer happiness team.
  • Premium Content: Get access to exclusive MyFitnessPal dietitian-approved original recipes, meal plans and nutrition tips created by our in-house nutrition and coaching team.

Premium subscribers will also get access to a number of new profiles on their home screen to help track those macronutrients like carbs, fat, protein and calories or for the heart healthy user to track your fat, sodium, cholesterol and calories. Carb-concious users will be able to track their carbs, sugars, fiber and calories.

Custom boards will also be available to allow you to specify up to three nutrients to track at any time. You can track different things like trans-fats, iron and more in your own personalise dashboard. You can also get a closer look at what’s in the food you’re eating with a new food analysis tool to help you track, or cut your sodium intake, carb-load or maybe get more regular with more fiber.

You don’t have to stop using My Fitness Pal though, with all users getting a bump as well, with new options for tracking your calories.

  • Verified foods: We now have hundreds of thousands of foods in our database that have been verified for calorie and nutrition content—this will help take the guesswork out of logging.
  • Get better insights with improved graphs: Spot opportunities to improve what you eat by visualizing it in new ways. View your calorie and nutrient intake by day, by week—even by meal!

You will see more about the new premium levels in the app, which is available on Google Play, or you can head to the My Fitness Pal website to upgrade to the new premium level.
