Anyone who owns an Android Tablet running Honeycomb 3.0 or 3.1 know that running apps not made for the larger screen of a tablet can be a bit of a nightmare. Usually the app is just stretched across the screen to fill up space, leaving buttons to be very small at times. Google are hoping to combat this with a new feature they’re adding to Android 3.2 called, simply, ‘Zoom’. What Zoom will do is zoom the app in to run at its ‘native’ size; elements (buttons, labels, etc) will be scaled up so they’re easier to use on the larger screen (an example can be seen after the break). The downside to Zoom is that most of the apps elements will be slightly pixelated.
Now we know Android 3.2 will support Qualcomm CPUs, 7-inch displays and now this new ‘Zoom’ feature. All we need now is a release date.
So their “new” feature does what the iPad has done since day 1? … sure… neat ;P – tell me again how Apple are all evil for “stealing” from android for some new iOS5 stuff?.
I can’t comment as I’ve never used an iPad to that extent. Didn’t it run in a small window at first or something?
