Looking to buy the HTC One XL when it launches on Telstra next month? Well we’ve been hearing tid-bits about the pricing, and what we’re expecting to see from the nation’s biggest carrier is the One XL on their $59 Freedom Connect Plan over 24 months with monthly repayments of $6. Over the course of the 2 year contract you’ll be forking out ~$1560 and in return you’ll get the One XL, $550 credit per month, unlimited texts, and 1.5GB of mobile data (3G + 4G).
We haven’t heard anything regarding an outright price, but we’re willing to say it’ll be around the ~$700 mark. Release date is also a mystery for now, however, we have been hearing the middle of June. We’ve already reviewed the HTC One XL and you can read that review now!

Considering the other networks are seriously struggling with capcity on their networks and both run pretty slow 3g, i’m more than happy to pay $10 more than the equivalent optus or voda plan and get coverage and fast internet for what is largely an internet device.
If this is true, how do you reckon this will effect the plan price of the HSPA+ 3G SGSIII on Telstra? I wouldn’t think that they would want to price the GSIII too much higher as they are in the same class of phone really (Big flagship Android devices) What do you guys think? Is $69 per/mo wishful thinking? Also, consider the Galaxy Nexus launched at this price about 6 months ago
Interesting it will be. The SGS3 will almost CERTAINLY not have 4G, but they’ll want to keep it up there at the top. Hard call to make though. I’m desperately waiting for the XL. I’m an early adopter, but I’m looking at the Asus Transformer Infinity Pad outright, so that AND the XL outright would be mighty expensive.
The SGS3 has some cool software features, but it lacks the ….pizazz that the SGS2 had when coming into a boring, widely HTC dominated market.
Yeah, it sure will be! I reckon $79 per/month would be ridiculous for a 16GB SGSIII though (being more expensive than the 64GB iphone 4s and the 16GB Galaxy Note!, to be Telstra’s most expensive handset) $69 per/month would be reasonable though.
I’m hoping for $69 a month for nothing for the XL. I’d say they can’t really go above the XL on price for the SGS3, because of the lack of 4G (not confirmed yet, but still highly unlikely).

Yeah, that is actually a good point. These handsets are so close these days and with the SGSIII probably not coming with Telstra 4G (at least initially), it would be a bit ridiculous to charge a lot more for the SGSIII HSPA+ than the HTC One XL 4G.

Oh, by the way, I was talking to someone in the know last nigh, the reason that the One XL has been delayed from Telstra, is because when they put their Telstra logo in the boot up, they screwed it up, and HTC had to re-flash all the phones and was having trouble locking them….
Locked bootloader? I hope XDA can crack it soon enough. 🙁
Well, I think locked as in the way that it is normally locked… and anyway, the HOXL has been cracked (s-off) already hasn’t it?. Unless they have patched that exploit… which would be a bad PR move …
Most likley Telstra left a bunch of R/W stuff on the system partition that should be R/O making a huge hole in security…

That’s what exclusivity is all about. I purchased mine for +$700 and aren’t that worried about a lower price from Telstra.

Having said that, I appreciate the many benefits you early adopters provide for the minute number of rational buyers out there.
