We’ve only recently seen the Optimus L-Series of phones released in Australia ranging from the L2 through to the top of the line Optimus L7, it’s now set to be topped by the Optimus L9 which has been announced at an event just prior to the start of IFA in Germany. The specs are pretty decent although still running Ice Cream Sandwich which isn’t actually a bad thing these days :

  • 1GHz Dual-Core CPU
  • 4.7″ IPS Display
  • Memory: 1GB DDR2 (RAM) / 4GB e-MMC
  • 5MP Rear Camera and VGA Front Facing Camera
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Battery: 2,150mAh SiO+
  • 131.9×68.2×9.1mm @ 125g

We’ve asked LG Australia about a possible release for the L9 here and they advised :

LG Australia is currently reviewing the release of the LG Optimus L9 in the local market. Commercial discussions on device release timing and sales channels are ongoing and further information will be provided as soon as details are available.

So it looks like this could very well be coming to Australia if talks go well with the various carriers. That 2,150mAh battery looks pretty nice thoug.
