While cloud storage service Box might not be as widely used as competing services such as Dropbox, it’s still a massive player in the cloud storage industry, with many large scale businesses using it and between 1-5million Android users according to its Google Play page.

Now all Box users will notice large upload speed increases as Box rolls out a service they’re aptly calling “Box Accelerator”. The service made up of nine Box nodes located around the world to connect people to Box’s HQ much faster — Box’s CEO says they’re “unlocking your bandwidth”.

What does that mean for us Aussies? Well, according to the company, speed increases will be largest here in Australia because we have one of the largest distances from the Box’s main servers. The increases in speed will at least twice as fast, and perhaps more depending on your mobile’s data connection.

Will this be enough to tide Dropbox users over? Maybe not just yet. But Box’s offerings are becoming more and more enticing by the day. Will you be swapping to Box, or do you already use it? Let us know!

Box also launched its win desktop sync app like dropbox, now I can use my 100gb with better options.
Only thing I now need is increase of upload limit from 100 mb to 1 gb 🙂
