For the last 18 months or so, Ausdroid has been served to you from – of all places – California, in the United States of America. We’ve used Linode for our server hosting for quite some time now, and while it has served us well, it’s time to come home.

Linode has served us well, but it has pained us a great deal that despite being Australia’s #1 Android news site… our news is served from overseas. Well, no more.

As of last evening, Ausdroid is now being served to you fresh, and at lightning speed, from the Equinix data centre in Sydney, Australia. You see, the friendly – and super cool – team at Orion VM (who use the Equinix Data Centre) have decided to partner with Ausdroid to bring us back to where we should be. Gone are our two servers at Linode, replaced with two behemoths in Sydney.

You should notice vastly increased server response times, lightning quick downloads, and above all, the same Ausdroid news service you know and love. Thanks for bearing with us – there have been a few hiccups – but everything should now be settled. Let’s get on with the show!

Thanks: Orion VM.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi, oi, oi!! Lol.
Good work guys, this site is definitely quicker.

Great to be supporting this site! We are peered with Internode so I’ll see what I can do to get this site onto unmetered access.

Thanks so much Sheng – we’re very happy so far!

That’d be why you’re no longer serving over both IPv6 and IPv4 then 🙂

So that’s why things went missing from the front page today =]

    Only briefly.

    GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA 🙂

STRAYA! GIRT BY SEA! YEWL COME A WALSING MATILDA WIF ME!

    Welcome home

Why not use Ventra? I have used them for all my clients and they too are lightning quick!!

    Been there, tried that before.

    sorry Note 2

so what happened with regard to the Galaxy Note launch last night, when can we lay our hands on one thru the telcos

We’ll have this info up as soon as Tia is able to post it.

Sounds great to me, luv this site.

good to see, love the site, only thing to add if you do decide to change server providers one day it might be good to choose internode CDS which can be unmeeted if ISP do decide not that this site uses alot of bandwidth, anyway good to see it coming back to australia.

Nice work Buzz. I have been around here a while now and it has been great to see the website “grow up”!
