Nexus 7(2013) accessories
When we finally get a look at the Nexus 7(2013) here in Australia we already know that at least one accessory could possibly be available from Google Play, but it looks like a sleeve may not be the only accessory that will be available for the Nexus 7.

Droid-life has found two types of cases as well as a screen protector designed specifically for the Nexus 7(2013) on the US Asus website. The first is the updated version of the multi-coloured Travel Cover. Available in six different colours – Dark Grey/Light Blue/Pink/Orange/Red/Green the case will be a form fitting covered that is described as non-slip and with a matte texture to provide a great grip while still protecting your precious new tablet from bumps and scrapes.

With holes cut out for the Speakers at the top and bottom of the case as well as for the cameras, microUSB port and headphone jack, there are specially molded button covers built into the case to operate the volume up/down and power buttons.

There’s no pricing listed but it should be around the same price that the original was sold for.

It also appears that Asus and/or Google has been listening to feedback and has looked at supplying a Premium Cover for the Nexus 7. The new design is made out of a soft microfiber inner with the outer made of a polyurethane material. The premium cover will fold in on itself to create a stand that allows the tablet to be used as a stand for watching video or when flipped over, for typing.

Folding Stand

There’s no mention of price at this stage but it would be expected to range at around the $40-50 mark if other premium cases on the market are any indicator.

Lastly, but certainly not least, there is a screen protector. Not much to say about a screen protector, but the package contains two screen protectors – 1xMatte and 1xGlossy. Also contained in the package is a Squeegee and Cleaning cloth to help with the application process. The application is advised as being easy and the screen protectors are supposed to be reusable so you can ‘switch to what works best for you’

No word on price for the screen protector kit as yet, for a premium branded screen protector kit such as this you’d probably expect a premium price.

While Google has traditionally been frustratingly slow at allowing their customers to purchase accessories for their Nexus devices, it seems they’re learning that consumers like choice and having at least two types of covers is a start. We can only hope that when these accessories become available, that they’ll be available in Australia and the rest of the world, not just the US.

Will you buy an official Nexus case for your Nexus 7 or investigate the world of third party cases?

Fat chance we’ll see those official accessories in Australia before the Nexus 7 2014 edition is announced.

Nexus 7 2013 released early in the States. Google not able to enforce restrictions apparently. Hope means we don’t have to wait too long.

Fingers crossed, refreshing Play Store here constantly.

Yep am currently a slave to play store. Not complaining at potential early release but just highlights the good folks at Google still have a long way to go when it comes to product launches (leaks galore, breaking own street date and who knows what else we are in store for). Tried emailing play store but got a vague response.
