HP 2014 Chromebooks
HP announced their updated Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14 at IFA on Friday. They announced pricing and availability for the US, but we were waiting on HP Australia to see if these updated models will reach Australia. HP Australia has advised that the new Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14 will indeed be arriving in Australia, reaching stores early next month. No pricing has been released at this stage, but we expect to see more information on pricing when stock is heading to stores.

The specs include an update to the Samsung Exynos processor on the Chromebook 11 to an Intel Celeron based processor, and an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor powering the Chromebook 14. There’s been a number of options for 3G/LTE connectivity given on the US site, but as with all Chromebooks hitting Australia so far, we don’t expect to see these options in Australia unfortunately. Specs wise, the new Chromebooks will have :

We’ll be talking to HP Australia in the lead-up to the launch, but if HP decide on a soft launch – as we saw with the last model – then be sure to let us know.

Turned off immediately I saw the crap resolution!

Daniel Tyson

Lack of 1080P is a bit of a downer. Perhaps next generation.

Charlie

Can you upgrade the SSD in the 11inch version?

Daniel Tyson

Not 100% sure. Have to get hands-on to check.

Jez

Again, No full HD! I want one with a great screen. Why not the 1080 version for Australia?

Daniel Tyson

No 1080P version on the OS model yet either – probably Gen 4 (this is Gen 3).

Ray

These look damn nice. Will be keeping an eye out. I’ve been wanting to buy a Chromebook for a while now – just waiting for something reasonable to come out.

Daniel Tyson

What size are you after? There’s quite a few decent ones coming with 1080P resolution as well as touch screens 4GB RAM – all things I recommend on a Chromebook.

Ray

The res is a bit of a let down, otherwise I thought they looked pretty good.

What’s a good 1080p one you might recommend? Preferably around the 13/14″ screen size.
