It was only a few days ago that we saw a mysterious countdown timer appear on the Pebble website, seemingly counting down to the launch of a new device.

9to5Google spotted an image on Pebble’s website (which has since hilariously been replaced by an image of a rock) that seems to indicate a device with a wider screen, colour display and e-paper design is coming at the end of the countdown.

This new Pebble looks pretty exciting, and it’ll be interesting to see whether it attract users who are increasingly going with Android Wear, especially with recent changes bringing some Android Wear functionality to Pebble.

If you’ve been waiting for the next generation of wearables, what battery life would you need to see before jumping on the wearables bandwagon?

It would need atleast 4 days of moderate use, so if it does have a colour e-ink screen then that would be amazing… If such a screen exists?

Err, well the pebble, as is, has a week’s battery life, 1000s of apps, and can be had for less than $100 whilst doing most of what’s useful in Wear. If the new version maintains anything like those characteristics AND gets a colour screen and a microphone, the question becomes “who’s going to bother with the other efforts?”
