Telstra Treats app logo

Telstra has launched its own rewards app, Treats. The company says it will bring awesome rewards to its customers as a way of saying thanks for being with and using the Telstra network.

The Treats App is a free download for Android (and something called iOS), and brings discounts on designer clothes, fine dining or live music events straight to your smartphone screen. The app will find local places where you can be rewarded – for example, a treat for discounted coffee – via a discount notification on your screen.

The app’s description offers some more details:

  • Currently available in Sydney and Melbourne, coming soon to Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart and Darwin.
  • Enjoy treats based on your location and the things you like.
  • Browse additional treats at your leisure across the three categories of Shopping, Dining and Going Out.
  • ‘Learns’ the treats you love through frequent usage.
  • Built in map feature so locating great treats is effortless.
  • Exclusive to Telstra customers

While anyone can install the app, Treats are (of course) only available to Telstra Customers.

If you’re a Telstra customer and want to check out more about the Treats App, you can click on the link below to find out more.

The app was not found in the store. 🙁

Hahahahaha Oh how funny. You must have been one of the first places to post the ad because it was still under 300 views but I know the guy in the ad. Was not expecting that at all.

It’s bad enough that people in country area’s have data speeds about 1/10th of those in Sydney and Melbourne, now they’re giving away “treats” to the city dwellers as well. Just doesn’t pay to live outside the capitals, it’s a pity that Telstra doesn’t mind charging you the same for the lack of service they provide. Maybe a pro rata system needs to be applied. Provide me with 1/10th of the speeds and I’ll pay 1/10th of the bill. Betcha that’ll speed things up for us poor country cousins!

No one told you to live in in area that gets bad mobile service, how is the company’s fault?

In his defence that information isn’t nearly as public as it should be when you’re trying to buy a house. Also, not everyone likes the idea of contributing to Australia’s horrific urban sprawl problem … But yeah his payment logic doesn’t exactly hold up.

Cool, you can pay based on your speed once you start paying for the relative cost of the hundreds of kilometres worth of fibre backhaul required to serve your cell tower in the middle of nowhere.

You’ll quickly find that you are much, much worse of.

Move to the city!

Abel Tasman

This looks like a great app for discounts providing you don’t live in Tasmania. The nearest deal for me is only 593km away in Melbourne.
